Some dogs arrive like an open book. I arrived more like a locked diary with a very handsome cover.

Golden-orange fur, a little Labrador mix, mixed with the finest street-dog ingredients. Very pretty, very energetic, very “please don’t rush my feelings”.

When I came to Mayday in March 2025, I was scared of almost everything. The lead, new people, noises, the whole big world. I mostly stayed in my hut and kept my little golden heart very well protected.

But look at me now.

I love my walks. I am good on the lead. I get SO excited for dinner, because obviously I am a man with priorities. And slowly, I have started letting more and more humans in.

I am still a sensitive boy. Loud noises can scare me, and I like my food space respected. But with a little distance, I can eat around other dogs. I have also lived with several young boy dogs here and, energy-wise, I absolutely kept up. Senior on paper, party boy in spirit.

Yes, you heard right: I was born 30.11.2016 (vaccined & chipped), so yes, technically I am a gentleman of a certain age. But please. I still have tons of sparkle, speed, and enough dinner enthusiasm to power the whole rescue center.

What I need is someone patient, calm and kind. Someone who understands that shy dogs do not need fixing. They need time, safety and someone who celebrates every tiny step.

Because underneath the nerves and the “give me a minute” face.

there is me.

Austin aka soft, golden, gentle, and finally starting to believe humans can be home again.
